Fun, fun and more fun! That’s what will be on tap for Saturday, May 10 for the Weimar Gedenke!, the annual town festival for the city of Weimar. And everyone is invited to come. It’s Mother’s Day weekend and is a chance for residents to visit old friends and meet new ones. The location will be downtown on Jackson Square and the Weimar City Park. The festival will host an outstanding lineup of musical entertainment for the festival on Saturday, May 10. Entertainers include: The Telstars, the Incredible Music Makers, and DJ & Female Vocalist Butter Bartek. They will be sure to get your toes to tapping as they belt out a variety of music. And the music is all free. Following is a tentative entertainment schedule: Starting off the entertainment at 3 p.m. at the Gazebo will be The Incredible Music Makers from Flato-nia. The unique feature of the band is that they are all family and love to play music and entertain. The group plays a variety of Polkas, Waltzes and modern muic. The band started playing together back in January 2007. They bill themselves as “the Best Bohemian Sound Around.” At 4:30 p.m. at the pavilion, Butter Bartek will perform until 8:30 p.m. Butter was born in Weimar and raised in Sheridan. As a young child she loved singing at church and being in the choir. She was in the State FFA Choir while attending Rice High School. Butter performs at festivals, churches, grand openings, weddings and private parties. She signs gospel, country and old rock ‘n’ roll. Beginning at 8:30 p.m., the Telstars are scheduled to perform at the pavilion. The band is a longtime favorite on the area music scene, and they play a variety of music. As veteran Gedenke! goers know, there is a limited amount of seating, so you’re invited to bring your lawn or folding chairs. The festival, sponsored by the Weimar Chamber of Commerce, will again be held on Jackson Square downtown. Gedenke! means “remember” in German, and celebrates Weimar’s heritage. The one-day festival features arts and crafts, as well as games for all ages. There will be a parade in the afternoon and music entertainment. All local community groups are invited to participate. For more information, individuals and groups can contact the chamber office at (979) 725-9511. Another way to remember Gedenke! is: It is always the Saturday before Mother’s Day.
